Warsaw Basketball: Patton Paces Ladies To Win
HUNTINGTON – The Warsaw girls basketball team picked up its first road win of the young season Friday night.
A balanced offensive effort paved the way for the Tigers to top host Huntington North 55-48 in non-conference action.
Sophomore guard Kaylee Patton canned a team-high 16 points as Warsaw improved to 2-1 with its second straight win. Patton hit four treys in the victory over the Vikings.
Warsaw, coming off a 39-23 win over Manchester in its home opener Wednesday night, continued to improve under first-year coach Lenny Krebs. The Tigers led 9-8 after the opening period Friday night and 27-17 at halftime en route to the win.
Junior Kacy Bragg delivered another strong effort with 10 points and five rebounds for Warsaw. Sophomore Brielle Harrison and junior Halie Shipp each scored eight points in the win and junior Maddie Ryman added seven. Senior Emma Bohnenkamper netted four points and senior Kennedy Patton two.
Harrison, a 5-10 forward, led the Tigers with six rebounds.
Warsaw hit 10-15 free throws in the win, while the Vikings were just 3-6 from the line.
Madalyn Robrock paced Huntington North with a game-high 22 points.
Warsaw, which dropped its season opener at Fort Wayne Luers Nov. 4, improves to 2-1. The Vikings fall to 1-1.
Warsaw rolled to a 41-18 win in the junior varsity game to move to 3-0 on the season. Kensie Ryman led the wy with 12 points. Kendall Wayne scored eight points and Ashlynn Hepler six for the JV Tigers.
Warsaw hosts Wabash Wednesday night. Huntington North plays at Carroll Tuesday evening.
