Ronald H. Bechler
Ronald H. Bechler, 73, Goshen, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born Sept. 2, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Harold E. and Laura Ann (Wachner) Bechler. As a young boy the family moved to Pigeon, Mich., where he graduated from high school and was a well known basketball player.
In July 1963, he married Katherine “Kay” Smith in Elkhart.
She survives along with three children, Rhonda (Johnny) Adams of Millersburg, Cheryl (Mark) Donovan of Elkhart and Tony (Kristen) Bechler of Schoolcraft, Mich.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three brothers, Larry Bechler of Goshen, James Bechler of Elkhart and Roger Bechler of Miami, Fla.
Mr. Bechler worked for Monoco as a supervisor and after retirement for PerMar, formerly known as Metro.
His hobbies included golfing, motorcycling, being outdoors, cooking out with family and grandchildren and enjoying Michigan football.
He was a member of the American Legion and the D.A.V. and went through all of the chairs of the Moose.
Friends may call 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 12, and one hour prior to the 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. LeRoy Bechler, an uncle, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.
Memorials may be given to Autism Awareness.
