McClone Earns Honor At Marian
INDIANAPOLIS – Tristan McClone earned a special honor for his special play on Saturday.
McClone, a former football star at WCHS, was awarded the Special Teams Player of the Game for Marian University following a win this past weekend.
McClone, a senior defensive back for the Knights, had four total tackles in a 62-0 home win over Missouri Baptist University. The 6-0, 220-pounder had two solo tackles on special teams in the dominating win.
McClone has played in all nine games this fall for the Knights, who have won four of their last five games to sit at 6-3 on the season. He has 16 total tackles, including eight solo stops on the year. McClone has also returned five kickoffs and one punt this season. Last year, McClone appeared in 11 games and had six tackles.
McClone had a prolific prep career at Warsaw as a standout tailback for coach Phil Jensen. He holds school records for yards in a season (1,716), carries in a season (320), yards in a game (322) and touchdowns in a game (5). McClone, a three-year starter and All-State performer at WCHS, also has the school marks for career carries (643) and yards per game in a season (171.8) and finished his brilliant career with 3,340 yards rushing.
McClone, the son of Dustin and Cassie, was also a state qualifier in track for the Tigers.
Marian, an NAIA program, wraps up its regular season on Saturday at Lindenwold University-Belleville in Illinois. Kick-off is set for 2 p.m.
