Mentone Board Approves Utilities Department Facility Updates
MENTONE — Mentone will be making some last minute updates before it heads into the new year. Mentone Town Council approved the Mentone Utility Department’s request for facility update Monday, Nov. 6.
The Mentone Utilities Department asked to use the excess of its building fund to update its second well house and shop. On the well house, the utilities department wanted approval to update its metal roof and siding. The shop will receive an insolation install before being covered by a metal wall. Miller Construction will be performing the updates for $5,400. Construction was projected to start Tuesday, Nov. 7.
While the police didn’t put in any requests, they informed the board of potential updates to their equipment for a future request. The police are still seeking to use their excess funds — projected to be $4,000 — to replace the video systems or radars in the squad cars as well as update their taser from the X26 to the X2. While their funding is unlikely to cover the entire costs, the police hope to at least start the updates so they can make a little each year.
