Charges Officially Filed Against Stone
WARSAW — Charges have officially been filed by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s office against Jordan Edward Stone, 24, 4159 N. 100E, Warsaw, in the stabbing early Sunday morning of Gabriel Rhodes, 22, Milford. The stabbing allegedly took place in the parking lot of Duffy’s Pub and Grub, South Huntington Street, Syracuse. Stone is facing charges of aggravated battery, a level 3 felony, and battery, while armed with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony.
The affidavit of probable cause, filed in Kosciusko Superior Court 1, stated police were not able to speak with Rhodes at Goshen Hospital due to him being medicated. Police were able to learn from Rhodes’ girlfriend he received stab wounds during a fight at Duffy’s Pub and Grub parking lot. She initially told police she did not see who stabbed Rhodes, but she realized the wounds needed medical attention.
According to the affidavit, Rhodes suffered two cuts to his left armpit, two cuts to his middle left torso and one cut to his left hip. The doctor told police one of the stab wounds punctured Rhodes spleen.
When interviewing Rhodes’ girlfriend later, she told police Rhodes and Stone had entered into a fight in the parking lot at Duffy’s Pub and Grub. After the fight, Rhodes walked toward her vehicle limping and holding his side. Rhodes allegedly told her Stone had stabbed him.
Police spoke with the bartender at Duffy’s Pub and Grub who stated Stone and Rhodes have been at odds for a long time. The bartender also stated Stone had been attempting to instigate something with Rhodes all evening. Other witnesses told police they observed the two get into a fight in the parking lot. After the fight, witnesses observed Rhodes grab his side and run away. One witness stated he observed a bloody knife in the hands of Stone and heard Stone say he stabbed Rhodes. Another witness heard Stone say he thought he hurt Rhodes.
After Stone was located, he was taken to Syracuse Police Department where he was read his rights and an interview conducted. Stone told police he felt threatened by Rhodes so he pulled out his Kershaw knife and stabbed Rhodes. He allegedly admitted to police while he was driving away he told the other individuals in his vehicle he stabbed Rhodes.
