Husky Trail To Be Opened By End Of The Week
WARSAW — Construction on Husky Trail is scheduled to be complete by the end of the week. The road will be open to through traffic for the first time since April.
“I am hopeful for Wednesday, optimistic for Thursday and positive for Friday,” said City Planner Jeremy Skinner regarding a construction completion date.
The project was complete in two phases, changing the detour halfway through. Residents and businesses experienced frustrations with the months of detours. At times, drivers were caught moving barricades, using Martin’s entrance as a way to avoid barricade zones and even completely disregarding the detours.
Despite the frustrations and several rain delays, the project will be completed within a week of the original proposed date.
The completed project includes a roundabout, sidewalks on both sides of the street, street lights and a dedicated turning lane.
While this will be the area’s third roundabout, residents should refresh their knowledge on roundabout safety.
- Drivers are urged to yield as they enter the roundabout. Only come to a stop if a pedestrian is using the crosswalk or another vehicle is approaching inside the roundabout.
- Don’t merge next to large vehicles, such as semis, inside the roundabout. As of July 1, this is the law.
- Use the vehicle’s turn signal when exiting roundabout
- Watch for pedestrians. There are crosswalks at all exits in the roundabout. Pedestrians always have the right of way.
