Janet I. McCuen
Janet I. McCuen, 85, of Nappanee, died at 3:12 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse.
She was born Nov. 7, 1931 in Goshen to Noah O. and Bernice (Peters) Miller.
Janet was a graduate of Nappanee High School and attended Purdue University. She was a lifetime area resident. On June 10, 1951, she married Wayne C. McCuen in Nappanee. Janet was a homemaker. She was a member of the Grace Point Presbyterian Church, and was an Elder in the church. Janet was the President of the Presbyterian District Women’s Association, was a past president of Elkhart County Thursday Club in Nappanee, and she made 55 banners and donated them to the church.
Surviving are her husband, Wayne C. McCuen; children; Steven W. McCuen, Fate, Texas, Vickie L. (Brett) Bachert, Elkhart, Michael S. (Donna) McCuen and Patrick J. (Marcy) McCuen, both of Issaquah, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters, Julia A. (Don) Truex, New Paris, Carole E. Gessinger, Nappanee; and a sister-in-law, Karen Miller. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert J. Miller.
Family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 28 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Union Center Cemetery. Rev. Terry Tyler and Pastor Tom Nelson will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be given to Riley’s Children’s Hospital.
