Harold W. Folkerth
Harold W. Folkerth, 97, of Rochester and formerly of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 4:04 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, at Hickory Creek of Rochester.
On Sept. 7, 1920, Harold was born in Drake County, Ohio. He was a cherished son of George Raymond and Ethel Steiner Folkerth.
Patriotism beckoned and Harold answered the call serving our country with the United States Army during World War II. As a paratrooper with the 17th Airborne Division, he served at the Battle of the Bulge.
Returning to Ohio, Harold worked for the Rural Electric Association as a lineman. Following his retirement, he worked as a Maytag repairman for more than 25 years.
Left to cherish Harold’s memory are his daughter: Rosemary Bailey of Rochester, two sons: Mick Folkerth of Miamisburg, OH, Gayle Folkerth of Arizona; four grandchildren: David Bailey and wife Stephanie, Dan Bailey and wife Emily, Brian Folkerth and Rachel Folkerth; five great grandchildren; Olivia Bailey, Grant Bailey, Danielle Bailey, Brenna Bailey and Benjamin Folkerth.
Preceding Harold in death are his parents, wife, son Jerry Folkerth, son-in-law, Ron Bailey and companion of 20 years, Vera North
