Barbara L. Lemon
Barbara L. Lemon, 78, Columbia City, passed away at 5 a.m., Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at her residence. Born on Oct. 2, 1939 in North Webster, she was the daughter of Donald Cecil and Mildred Lucille (Miller) Adair.
Her early years were spent in Kosciusko and Noble County and in her teenage years, she moved to Whitley County. She lived in the Etna Troy Township for over 55 Years before moving to Columbia City in 2014. Barbara graduated from Larwill High School with the Class of 1957. On Sept. 20, 1958, she married James Leroy Lemon in Inwood.
Barbara retired in 2005 with 22 years of service as a materials control clerk at Group Dekko, working at 3 different locations including, Washington Products, Larwill Products and Noble Wire, Merriam. She also worked on the Whitley County Election Absentee Board for several years. She was a member of Community Bible Church in Columbia City, 4 year member of Etna Troy Advisory Board, Etna Troy Community Center, Whitley County Genealogy Society and Salem Community Church Women’s Mission Group. Barbara enjoyed genealogy, politics, refinishing old furniture and making blankets for women’s shelters in Noble and Whitley County. She also loved all types of gardening, spending time with family, and most of all attending all of her grandchildren’s activities.
Survivors include her daughters, Tam Mitchell, of Columbia City and Robin (Chris) Neeley, of South Whitley; son, Todd (Michelle) Lemon, of West Terre Haute; sisters, Donna (Jess) Mead, of Monticello and Jo Ellen (John) Hueber, of Columbia City; brothers, Steven (Joyce) Adair, of Pierceton and Bentley (Janet) Adair, of Wilington, NC; mother-in-law, Willodean White, of Columbia City; grandchildren, Sie Sauers, Sara Sauers, Sheila Sauers, Scot (Amy) Sauers, Andrew (Rebekah) Mitchell, Emma Neeley, Logan Lemon and Dylan Lemon; and great-grandchildren, Issiac Mitchell and Eli Sauers; 3 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Audry Nicole Neeley and son-in-law, David A Mitchell.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services for Barbara will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the funeral home with Pastors John Cummings and Kevin Whitacre officiating. Burial will follow in Adams Cemetery.
