Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
10:41 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 301 EMS T46 Lane, Leesburg. Driver: Michael Hankel, 54, Cross Country Road, Dayton, Ohio. Hankel’s vehicle struck a parked vehicle. Damage up to $750.
9:56 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, US 30 and East CR 200N, Warsaw. Drivers: Stephen M. Daeger, 58, East Shoop Road, Pierceton, and Michael S. Joy, 52, East Masters Lane, Warsaw. Daeger’s vehicle rear-ended Joy’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
8:01 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, South SR 15 and West CR 200S, Warsaw. Drivers: Michael H. Sterk, 56, South Southwood Drive, Warsaw; Bobbie J. Simpson, 47, East Burkhart Drive, Warsaw; and Meghan D. Culwell, 29, East Sheridan Drive, Warsaw. Sterk fell asleep in his vehicle, crossing into the opposite lane and striking Simpson’s vehicle. Culwell’s vehicle was struck by Simpson’s vehicle. Injuries: Sterk sustained a fracture to his leg and Simpson complained of pain through her entire body. Damage up to $50,000.
2:47 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, East SR 14, south of South County Farm Road, Silver Lake. Drivers: Sandra S. Renz, 74, North Ogden Road, North Manchester, and Melinda S. Lankenau, 59, West CR 850S, Claypool. Renz’s vehicle collided with Lankenau’s vehicle. Injuries: Renz complained of pain to her hip/upper leg; Lankenau sustained injury to her legs; Renz’s passenger Patricia Utley, 75, Oak Drive, Wabash, also sustained injuries to her legs. Damage up to $50,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
8:17 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, East Market Street and South Harrison Street, Warsaw. Driver: Nicole E. Sparks, 37, East Market Street, Warsaw. Sparks lost control of the moped she was driving and fell off of the vehicle. Injuries: Sparks complained of pain to her ankle. Damage up to $1,000.
3:16 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, South Union Street and Lakeland Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Dillion J. Powell, 18, South CR 400W, Warsaw. Powell struck a juvenile pedestrian. The pedestrian sustained several abrasions to his right side but was not transported. Damage up to $5,000.
11:41 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 4063 N. CR 250E, Warsaw. Driver: Anthony J. Sheneman, 25, East CR 650S, Pierceton. A Warsaw Police Department officer noticed Sheneman traveling at a high speed, exiting the roadway, striking a fence and traveling through a field before returning to the road. Sheneman then fled the area at a high speed. The officer caught up to Sheneman and initiated a traffic stop. Inside the vehicle were several open alcohol containers. Winona Lake PD assisted with the OWI investigation. Sheneman blew .216% on the breath test. Damage up to $1,000.
Marshall
Officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
5:48 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 16900 block US 6 and Redwood Road, Walkerton. Police were called to a two-vehicle accident. Upon arrival, an unidentified female signed a refusal for medical treatment. The driver of the other vehicle, Marco A. Salas, 24, Plymouth, was found to be operating a vehicle without ever receiving a driver’s license. He was transported to Memorial Hospital for abdominal injuries. He was given a summons into court at a later date. Walkerton EMS and police and Polk Township Fire assisted.
