Man Batters Officers During Warrant Arrest, Drugs Discovered
NORTH WEBSTER — A Fort Wayne man refused to provide his identity and battered officers while being arrested for an active warrant. After detaining the man, officer discovered synthetic drugs and methamphetamine in his possession.
Antonio Amah Brown, 22, 1206 Fairfield Ave., Apt. 3, Fort Wayne, is being charged with two counts of battery causing bodily injury to a law enforcement officer, level 5 felonies; battery by bodily waste, a level 6 felony; two counts of resisting law enforcement, level 6 felonies; possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; and false identity statement, a class A misdemeanor.
On Oct. 4, an officer with the North Webster Police Department received information that Brown had an active arrest warrant for battery out of Noble County. Brown was located by officers at a gas station. Officers were able to recognize Brown from past incidents.
According to the affidavit, Brown denied his identity and gave officers a fake name. Brown was asked to remove his hat and sunglasses so that officers could make a positive identification, but Brown refused.
At this point, Brown became agitated and attempted to exit the gas station. An officer was standing by the door and arrested Brown on his active warrant. Brown continued to resist but officers were able to remove his sunglasses and hat to positively identify him.
While placing Brown inside a patrol vehicle, he resisted and spit into the face of one officer. He headbutted a second officer on the left side of his forehead, causing pain. He also scratched a third officer on the arm.
Once Brown was placed inside the vehicle, officers searched his person. In his pant pocket, officers located 3.6 grams of a synthetic look-a-like substance. In Brown’s bag, officers also discovered .6 grams of methamphetamine.
Brown was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Oct. 4, with a $10,250 surety and cash bond.
