WINONA LAKE – Grace had a pair of its ace tennis players honored by the Crossroads League.

Danila Kurkulin, who was nearly perfect this fall, was named to the All-Crossroads League Team for Grace’s men’s tennis team. Sophomore sensation Emily Mast was also honored to the All-Crossroads League Team for Grace’s women’s tennis team.

Kurkulin capped off his senior season in style while playing at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. He was undefeated in singles during the regular season, beating every other league No. 1 singles’ player for a 9-0 record. His only loss came in the league tournament quarterfinals.

Kurkulin was an All-League performer all three of his seasons for the Lancers. He went 9-1 in singles’ play this year and 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.

Mast burst onto the league season with a stellar season. She was 13-2 as Grace’s No. 1 singles’ player, including a 12-0 start to the year. Mast transferred to Grace after her freshman year at Toledo.

Mast was equally impressive at No. 1 doubles. She teamed up with Carrie Copeland for a 13-2 record, proving nearly automatic for the Lady Lancers.

For the year she posted an impressive 26-4 mark overall.
