Grace Welcomes Alumni And Celebrates Students With Homecoming Parade
WINONA LAKE — It was a picture perfect day today, Oct. 7, as Grace College students, alumni and families lined Park Avenue, Winona Lake, to watch Grace’s homecoming parade. Students flocked to the area prior to the parade for apple cider and donuts that were being given out in front of the Heritage Room, lining the street curb quickly as the parade’s 10:30 a.m. start time approached.
The parade started at Winona Lake Park and weaved through the small Village of Winona Lake streets as those marching waved and threw candy to viewers. Sports teams, student groups, homecoming court, alumni and local law enforcement were among those in participation.
Still to happen today as part of the homecoming festivities, a public open house at the new Worship Arts facility in the William Male Center, 999 Rupe Dr., Winona Lake, will take place from 4:45 – 6 p.m., with a music reunion and dinner to begin at 6 p.m. in the Heritage Room.
Finally, at 8 p.m., a family-friendly Nocturnal 8 Adventure Race. The race is described as a 3-4 mile venture through Winona Lake where families will explore local fields and wooded areas while climbing around obstacles, all in complete darkness. Those participating are encouraged to bring flashlights and costumes.
