Valley Football Coach Moriarty Suspended
AKRON — Tippecanoe Valley Head Football Coach Steve Moriarty was suspended today for conduct unbecoming a coach pending further investigation and review, the high school confirmed Monday.
Assistant coach Jeff Shriver will take over the day-to-day operations of the program until there is a resolution.
Details of the investigation could not be verified, and Valley Athletic Director Duane Burkhart and Moriarty both declined further comment when contacted Monday by InkFreeNews. A phone message to Shriver was not immediately returned at the time of this post.
Moriarty was officially hired on Jan. 17 after having served as a linebackers and offensive line coach with the program in 2016 and was a coach in the Tippecanoe Valley Youth Football League as well as a board member for the organization the previous year in 2015. He is a former Valley player himself and graduated in 1995 before going on to play collegiately at College of Du Page.
Shriver is a former co-head coach of the team in 2016 alongside Aaron Norris. He also was head coach from 2006-13.
The Vikings are 2-5 and are scheduled to play at Wabash Friday.
