Triton Football: Trojans Back On Track Versus Judson
BOURBON — The Trojans rebounded from the tragic loss of junior Cameron Scarberry and a tough 62-8 defeat last week at top-ranked Pioneer with a convincing 36-8 win over North Judson-San Pierre Friday night.
Bo Snyder completed 14 of 22 passes for a gaudy 378 yards and four touchdowns — including Tye Orsund’s four catches for 188 yards, Delano Shumpert’s six receptions for 170 yards and two touchdowns and a 16-yard, two-score receiving performance from Drew Stichter — as Triton got back on the winning track at home.
Stichter’s first touchdown catch put Triton (5-2, 4-1 HNAC) on the scoreboard in the first, and Shumpert’s two TD receptions — worth 123 yards between them — in the second period pushed the Trojans out to a 22-0 lead in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference contest. Stichter reeled in his second TD catch, and Max Slusser converted on a 1-yard run into the end zone to balloon Triton’s lead to 36-0 in the third quarter.
Judson (2-5, 1-4 HNAC) spoiled the shutout bid with a 35-yard run by Fletcher Greer in the fourth, and Logan Block ran in a two-point conversion to bring the score to its final margin.
The Trojans overcame four turnovers and 11 penalties totaling 112 yards in the win.
Alongside his passing heroics, Snyder finished with five tackles — including two for losses — as the Triton defense held Judson to 0-for-10 third down efficiency and 0 for 2 in fourth down attempts. Vincent Helton also finished with five tackles, while Orsund, Stichter and Tristan Young finished with four apiece, and Slusser recorded an interception in the feel-good win at home.
The Trojans are now tied with Knox for second place in the HNAC standings and will travel to the home of the Redskins next Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
