Martha Jane Shively
Martha Jane Shively, 75, formerly of Tuxedo Drive in Plymouth, passed away on Saturday evening, Sept. 16, 2017, at her residence in Muncie.
Martha was born on March 26, 1942, in Rochester, to Von and Betty (McWhinney) Anderson. She attended Warsaw schools and graduated in 1960. She then attended Ball State University graduating in 1964 with a B.A. and continued to receive her Master’s in 1964.
She married the love of her life, Dean Shively on June 16, 1962, in Warsaw. She was his devoted and loving wife throughout her marriage. Martha was an elementary teacher in the Knox Community School system and was a lifetime educator for 26 1/2 years, retiring in 2003.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, baking, working outside with her flowers, shopping for Dean and her grandchildren, attending the theater with her family, traveling with her sisters and spending time with her friends. Martha and Dean seldom missed the countless ball games and swim meets her grandchildren participated in. She will be dearly missed by her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Kurt) Klem, and Jennifer (Darren) Reno, both of Indianapolis; and one son, Bradley Shively, Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Michael, Owen, Erik, Keira and Eleanor; and one sister, Linda (Steve) Moore, Muncie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean on May 13; and one sister, Barbara Van Wey.
Visitation for Martha will be held from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Toni L. Carmer officiating. Burial will be in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
