Grace Tennis: No Problems In Home Finale
WINONA LAKE – Grace’s women’s tennis team had no problem with Indiana Tech on Thursday, winning 8-1.
Thursday’s match was the final home regular season contest at Miller Field for the Lady Lancers (9-4). Grace sits one win away from recording double-digit victories, which has only been accomplished three other times in program history.
Grace swept all three doubles’ points, including a win by default at No. 3 doubles. Emily Mast and Carrie Copeland at No. 1 doubles as well as Jenna Jackson and Molly Fitzpatrick at No. 2 doubles both blanked their opponents 8-0.
Jackson cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles, and Fitzpatrick was nearly as good 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
Briana Diehl was perfect 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles, and Shelby Bankson only lost one game to win at No. 4. Samantha Meyer claimed the final victory by default at No. 6.
The only loss of the match was Mast at No. 1 singles, snapping an undefeated start to her singles’ season.
“This was a good win against an improving Indiana Tech team. It’s always good to get a win in the last home match of the fall season, and we look forward to IWU and the start of the conference tournament,” said Grace head coach Marcus Moore.
The Lady Lancers end the regular season at Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
