LCA Soccer: Calizo Goes Wild Against Braves
WINONA LAKE – Tori Calizo had a game to remember.
After notching a hat trick Thursday against Bremen, Calizo went off again Saturday versus Maconaquah. The sharpshooting forward potted five goals in an 8-0 win against the Braves.
Calizo wasted no time starting the carousel, scoring in the second, third and fourth minutes to garner the fastest hat trick in LCA girls soccer history. Calizo got her fourth in the 25th minute and fifth in the second half.
Jess Slone put away a pair of goals, her first just 22 seconds after Calizo’s third, and the second deep into the second half. Anna Reimink had the other goal for the Cougars, which took 15 shots overall, Calizo a perfect five goals on five shots.
“I was very happy with another quick start from our team,” said LCA coach Nat Raber. “We took control early and on a hot day, we took the wind right out of Maconaquah quickly. I was very happy with our ball movement. On hot days it’s vital to not be the team chasing the ball and for most of the game we didn’t.”
LCA (5-5) has won four of its past five matches and will look to continue its run Tuesday at home against Culver.
