Warsaw Sports Wrap: Sept. 21
Boys Soccer
The Warsaw boys soccer team played tough in a 2-1 loss to Goshen in Northern Lakes Conference action.
The visiting RedHawks took a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick in the opening half.
The Tigers got the tying goal by Blake Burns about 12 minutes into the final half to make it 1-1. Goshen then got the game winner with about 10 minutes to play in the contest for the conference win.
The Warsaw varsity team drops to 8-5-2 overall and goes to 2-3 in NLC play.
Goshen won the junior varsity match 3-0. The Warsaw JV falls to 7-4-1 overall and sits at 4-1 in league play.
Warsaw plays at Wawasee Saturday in an NLC contest. The varsity boys are slated to play at 1 p.m. with the boys JV game to follow.
Freshman Football
The Warsaw freshman football team lost 35-27 to Northridge in a conference contest.
The frosh Tigers led 14-7 at halftime of the NLC game at Fisher Field.
Aaron Greene threw a pair of touchdown passes for the Tigers. Mason Martz had two touchdown receptions and Jacob Hawn a rushing touchdown and a two-point conversion for Warsaw.
Hawn also had a fumble recovery for a touchdown for the Tigers. Zach Ransbottom had two quarterback sacks for Warsaw. The quartet of Martz, Zeek Reed, Austin Slone and Kaden Silveus were also cited for their strong play on defense for the Tigers.
Warsaw will play at Goshen next Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
