NorthWood Volleyball: Panthers Top Raiders
NAPPANEE – The NorthWood volleyball team continued its winning ways Thursday night.
The host Panthers, powered by star senior Kennedy Wiens, topped Northridge 3-1 in a Northern Lakes Conference clash.
Wiens slammed down a team-high 14 kills as the Panthers prevailed 25-11, 19-25, 25-17, 26-24 for the key league win.
Wiens also had 12 digs for the Panthers, who improved to 4-1 in NLC action.
Sophomore Maddy Payne continued her stellar play with 12 kills to go with three aces and four blocks for NorthWood.
Whitney Gessinger had 20 digs to pace the defense and Courtney Lengacher piled up 46 assists for the winners.
NorthWood, whose lone conference loss was a 3-2 decision to Concord, still has NLC matches left versus Warsaw at home on Sept. 28 and at Wawasee on Oct. 5.
NorthWood won the junior varsity match over the Raiders 25-24, 25-21. Ali Knepp had five kills and Alea Minnich and Kate Rulli each had four for the winners. Grace Knisely had four aces and Knepp two. Knepp had nine digs and Kendal Miller eight and Rulli had a block. Caroline Mullet had 15 assists.
NorthWood will play in the Bremen Tournament on Saturday.
