Warsaw Sports Wrap: Sept. 19
Volleyball
The Warsaw volleyball team lost a 3-0 final to Carroll.
The visiting Chargers topped the Tigers 25-18, 25-17, 25-22 in the non-conference matchup.
Lexie Day led the offense for the hosts as she had nine kills.
The trio of Hanna Leach, Kacy Bragg and Kennedy Lauck each had five kills on the night for the Tigers.
Bragg had 19 assists and Lauck led the team with three blocks. The trio of Day, Erin Peugh and Addie Dickerhoff each had 10 digs for Warsaw.
The varsity squad drops to 14-9 on the season. Warsaw will host Wawasee Thursday night in a conference match and then host its own tournament on Saturday.
The Warsaw junior varsity team beat Carroll 25-21, 25-11. Gwyn Bellamy led the way with nine kills. Bellamy and Katie Schmidt each had two aces and Schmidt also had 16 assists. Kylie Prater had nine digs and Courtney Chookie eight.
Carroll topped Warsaw 18-25, 25-22, 15-11 in freshman action. Tessa Wood led Warsaw with seven kills. Kendra Love had four aces and 15 assists. Rylee Kaufman had 15 digs and Sydney Morel 11 for the frosh Tigers.
Lakeview Volleyball
The Lakeview Middle School 8th grade volleyball team beat Bremen 25-12, 25-7. Abbie Portr had three aces and six assists for the winners. Tori Jones had three aces and Anna Gustafson one. Cora West had six kills, Kylie Smith three aces and a kill and Emma Christenberry an ace.
The Lakeview 7th grade team topped Bremen 25-11, 25-12. Tessa Graney had five aces and two assists. Lauren Eastwood had five aces and two kills and Kinsey Atkins four aces. Mallory Mulligan had three aces and three assists and Caitlyn Patrick three aces and four kills. The Lakeview 7th grade ladies are now 13-1.
Lakeview Cross Country
The Lakeview Middle School cross country teams were in action Tuesday night.
The girls team beat Pierre Moran 20-37 and lost to Concord 34-25.
Rylee Burns led the way as she placed fourth overall in a time of 12:14.
Mikayla Mimnaugn was sixth in 12:22, followed by Kirsten Parker in 11th in 13:23. Kylie Werensly was 24th in 14:46, with Lizzie Miner 29th in 15:34, Karissa Barth 31st in 15:39, Rachel Doyle 33rd in 15:57, Gracie Willig 47th in 18:41 and Maia Young 48th in 18:42.
The boys team defeated Concord 23-34 and Pierre Moran 20-39 but lost to Grissom 31-27.
Edward Robison led the boys as he placed fourth in a time of 11:12.
Levi Perry was fifth in 11:18 with David Howard sixth in 11:24. Garrett Hall was 12th in 11:47 with Jose Velazquez 20th in 12:01, Bryce Duncan 26th in 12:52, Ricardo Verduzco 35th in 13:33 and Carter Kraft 36th in 13:36.
Lakeview Football
The Lakeview Middle School 7th grade football team beat Bremen 44-0.
Tucker Curtis had 85 yards rushing, a rushing touchdown and a two-point conversion. Kyle Schnackenberg had a touchdown and Jonny Burrit a touchdown pass to Omar Ponce and a kick return for a score. Reilley Wood had a two-point conversion.
The play of the offensive line of Ashton Chilcut, Leonel Reyes, Broc Fraley, Bradyn Lowe and Hayden Berry was also cited as a big key for the winners.
The duo of Wood and Curtis each had an interception return for a touchdown to lead the defense, which only allowed one first down and also recorded a safety. Top tacklers were Burrito, Aden Hanlon and German Flores.
