Bre’s Run: More Than $5K Raised For Lemler Scholarship Fund
BOURBON — Triton High School graduate Courtney Jennings recently presented a check worth $5,094.20 to Tim and Melinda Lemler for the Breanna Lemler Scholarship fund. The money was raised during Bre’s Run, a fundraiser which took place on July 8 in Bourbon.
Breanna, the daughter of Tim and Melinda, was a 2013 THS alum who was killed in an automobile accident last July at the age of 21. Jennings organized Bre’s Run as part of a community service project for the Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy.
“As our exit project we do a community service project, and they want it to be something that means something to you… and I thought no better way to do that than to have everyone gather and do a run in honor of Bre since she was training for it,” Jennings said at the event.
Breanna was preparing for a mini-marathon at the time of her passing, and Bre’s Run was divided into three distances — a 13.1-mile run, a 5K and a one-mile fun run. A total of 168 runners showed up to participate, including 40 in the mini-marathon, and others turned out for the raffle at Triton High School.
“We wanted it to be a time just to remember Bre, share memories and just everyone hang out and have a good time,” said Jennings.
