Wawasee Soccer: Warriors Back On Track
COLUMBIA CITY – Wawasee shook a four-game winless streak by topping Columbia City, 3-2, Wednesday evening in boys soccer.
Wawasee, 0-2-2 in its past four matches, broke through with two goals in the first half when Chris Pena and Ethan Carey both found the back of the net, both goals assisted by Ian Lambright.
Ryan Edington’s goal in the second half was the difference, Pena notching the assist on the game winner.
Frank Planchon potted both goals for the Eagles (3-6-1).
“The guys played well,” started Wawasee head coach Jordan Sharp. “We let their “Danger Man 10” (Planchon) put two away on us which was regrettable. Many guys played their best game tonight. We need to show more patience in the final third to create a good scoring chance.”
The Wawasee JV still couldn’t find its first win, but took consolation in drawing a tie against Columbia City, 1-1. Jace Mishler had the Wawasee goal, assisted by Cam Gillum. The JV sits at 0-6-3 overall.
Wawasee (4-3-2) was next take on East Noble on Saturday.
