New Leadership Being Sought For North Webster Chamber
NORTH WEBSTER — An email will be going out in the next week about officer and board member nominations for 2018 for the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce. The organization learned this from Jen Ducey, Tippecanoe Township, nomination chairman, at its regular monthly meeting Monday, Sept. 11, at the Tippecanoe Township Building.
Anyone who might be interested in serving should contact her by email, [email protected] right away.
She explained five board positions will need to be filled at the end of 2017. Currently holding them are Ben Ashpole, Bashpole Software; Stacey Cox, Pletcher Insurance; Ron Erb, Webster Lake Conservation Association; Chris Lusso, Clearwater Carpentry; and Sue Ward, Sue’s Creations. Officers expiring are president currently held by Ward, and secretary, who is Susan Stump, The Papers. The secretary is appointed by the board while the president is elected by the membership.
Ballots will be emailed to all members. Only one ballot per member organization can be cast. Deadline to return the ballots is at the start of the next meeting noon Monday, Oct. 9. The meeting will be held at the Tippecanoe Township Building and all members are urged to attend this important meeting.
An update on the membership holiday party was given. It will be held Monday, Dec. 11, in the Tippecanoe Township Building. All members and employees are invited. Social hour will be 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. followed by entertainment. More information will be forthcoming in the near future.
The chamber board approved a fall update to the benches placed throughout downtown by the chamber. Fall mums will take the place of the flower pots. Several members reported positive comments concerning the downtown beautification these provide.
The change will occur after the Fall Antique Outboard Motor Show scheduled for Webster Town Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, as it brings many visitors from out of the area and the pots are looking very good. A big thank you was extended by Ward to all the business owners who are watering the pots.
Beautification was put back on the table by board member Terry Frederick, The Watershed Foundation. He was given permission to obtain more information on some type of flower bed and signage for the triangle on the south end of town at SR 13 and Backwater Road. He will report his findings.
Ward broached the topic of a volunteer ambassador for the chamber. There may be someone interested. A job description will be drawn up and a meeting held with the individual. The ambassador would have duties involving the areas of membership and ribbon cuttings.
Martha Stoelting, The Papers, will apply for the grant check for Dixie Day Festival advertising and fill in the required paperwork for other festival related advertising. Tammy Waliczek, Dixie Haven Resort, is updating board members on the chamber website, www.northwebster.com.
Ward announced the board had chosen Clearwater Carpentry as business of the month for October 2017. Owner Chris Lusso and his staff have faithfully served as volunteers in organizing and running the Dixie Day Festival Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show for several years. It is much appreciated by the chamber and by those who participate and attend the show.
The general contracting company is located in Tippecanoe Township.
