Thelma L. Eberly
Thelma L. Eberly, 90, formerly of South Whitley, died at 3:13 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017 at Masons Healthcare in Warsaw.
She was born April 13, 1927 in North Manchester, Ind. a daughter of Lewis I. and Grace (Pence) Luckenbill. Her formative years were spent in North Manchester. She graduated from Central High School in 1945.
On June 23, 1945 she was united in marriage to George R. Eberly. They made their home in Cleveland Township for two years and on a farm in Richland Township for 35 years until October 1989 when they moved into South Whitley. In March 2015 they moved to Warsaw. Mr. Eberly died Sept. 2, 2016.
A homemaker, Thelma also worked at Chamberlin Products for eight years.
Her memberships included Spring Creek Church of the Brethren, Larwill Lions Club for over 50 years serving in several offices, Larwill Squawbuck Days Board, Larwill Community Board, Double Dozen Home Extension Homemakers Club, Richland Township Precinct Committee and Cleveland Township Precinct Committee. She also attended Pierceton United Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include six children, Anne K. (Terry) Walker of South Whitley, Judy J. (Larry) Sechrist of Larwill, Linda G. (Robert) Jeffries of South Whitley, Steven G. (Kathy) Eberly of South Whitley, Debra J. (Kevin) Shoemaker of South Whitley and Jill C. Eberly of Warsaw; 16 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson; a brother, Wayne Luckenbill; a half sister, Dorothy Boswell; and a half brother, Leroy Luckenbill.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. The burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Humane Society of Whitley County or Lions Club International.
