Valley Sports Wrap: Sept. 7
Volleyball
Tippecanoe Valley’s volleyball team swept Triton, 25-10, 25-21, 25-19, at home Thursday night.
Sophie Bussard and Makenzie Woodcox put down 12 and 11 kills, respectively, to lead the Lady Vikings’ attack, while Bussard also recorded 10 digs, and both she and Woodcox finished with two block assists apiece alongside Hannah Jansma. Olivia Trippiedi served five aces, and Emily Peterson passed out 31 assists for Valley, which moved to 11-5.
Triton was led by Nicole Sechrist with 10 kills, two aces and two solo blocks and Hannah Wanemacher with 19 assists and two solo blocks. Tatum Hargrave finished with nine digs for the Blue Slam, who slipped to an even 5-5.
Valley’s JV also earned a sweep of Triton, 25-12, 25-12.
Triton hosts an eight-team invitational Saturday, while Valley returns to action Monday at home versus Columbia City.
Golf
Tippy Valley split a three-way Three Rivers Conference meet with Maconaquah and North Miami Thursday, shooting 249 to fall short of Maconaquah’s 209 but besting North Miami’s 314.
Makayla Sandbakken shot 55 to lead Valley followed by Jordan Krotke’s 57. Bethany Johnson carded 63, and Kelsey Shafer shot 74.
The Lady Vikings are back in action Monday versus LaVille.
Tennis
Valley tennis fell un straight sets on all five courts to Lewis Cass.
Seth Hoffman took eight games from Dixon Collins at one singles but fell 6-4, 6-4, while Jeremy Landis and Connor Frentzel won five games versus Noah Miller and Kace Kitchell at two doubles before losing 6-2, 6-3.
Eric Wright won three games in his first set with Jovan Orozco at two singles but wound up on the wrong end of a 6-3, 6-0 decision, and Garrett Feldman pushed C.J. Burrous to 10 games in the second set but lost 6-1, 6-4. Payton Mills and Dakota Parker took a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Josh Hanlon and Drew Cornell at one doubles.
The Vikings play at Rochester Monday.
