Thank You Dr. David Hoffert
Dear Editor:
I have read with interest this whole situation with Warsaw Community High School and the Military Armed Services Night. It seems rather confusing what happened but my time in the U.S. Army taught me that this would be called a SNAFU. David is a man I have admired as a teacher and now our Superintendent of WCS. He has apologized for any misunderstanding but I will tell you he would be the last person to limit patriotism by students. When he was a teacher he encouraged interviews of Veterans and recorded their history, stressing the importance of how their service has given us the nation we have today. We were on the same Honor Flight a couple of years ago as we spent time with real American heroes who served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. His knowledge of military history is amazing. Misunderstandings happen. Patriotism should be shown in appropriate ways with honor and dignity. David is my friend and I can assure you there was no intent to not honor our Active Military, Veterans and our Nation. Dr. Hoffert has apologized for what happened. Let’s move on as our students appropriately celebrate Liberty. “Freedom Isn’t Free.”
