NorthWood Golf: Weaver Ties Record To Pace Panthers
NAPPANEE – The NorthWood girls golf program celebrated in style Wednesday evening.
The Panthers made Senior Night one to remember during a dominating win over Mishawaka in a non-conference match at McCormick Creek.
On the night that the program saluted seniors Madison Richner and Hope Cripe, it was junior Mackenzie Weaver who stole the show for coach Adam Yoder’s undefeated team.
Weaver fired an outstanding nine-hole total of 33 over the par 36 back nine to pace the Panthers. Weaver, whose impressive performance included birdies on #11, #13 and #17, tied the program record set by Amy Thompson back in 2009.
The Panthers shot 163, while Mishawaka came in at 258.
Madison Richner shot a 40 for the winners, while Abby Slabaugh and Mckenna Gall each had a 45. Hope Cripe completed the varsity lineup with a 51 as the Panthers improved to 8-0.
Kaitlyn Kramer had a 59 to lead Mishawaka.
It was also a big night for the NorthWood junior varsity ladies as they set a 9-hole record by shooting 183. That effort bested their previous mark of 190 earlier this season.
Kirsten Schrock led the JV effort with a 42. Both Kylee Gall and Abigail Richner shot 46 and Delaney Davis a 49.
NorthWood, which went 7-0 to win the Northern Lakes Conference regular season title again this fall, will compete in the NLC Tournament Saturday at Pretty Lake in Plymouth.
