Valley Sports Wrap: Sept. 5
Football
Tippecanoe Valley’s junior high football teams both earned shutout wins over Peru.
The Vikings eighth grade beat Peru 27-0.
Braden Shepherd finished with 12 carries for 85 yards, and Jamasyn Virgil scored three touchdowns while recording eight carries for 45 yards. Brandon McBrier scored on a 6-yard TD run. Brandon McBrier threw to Payton Potter for 25 yards in the win.
Wade Melanson made five sacks, and Hunter Eherenman an interception for Valley.
In seventh grade action, meanwhile, the Vikings beat Peru 36-0.
Markus Bernicky racked up 91 yards and two touchdowns in just nine carries, while Hunter Craft finished with 43 yards and two TDs in six rushes. Noah Prater tallied 29 rushing yards and a TD in seven carries, and Brendyn Stump recorded a 20-yard run.
Noah Parker led the defense with 10 tackles.
Volleyball
Tippecanoe Valley’s junior high volleyball teams both topped North Miami, with the eighth grade winning in the minimum of games and the seventh grade rallying from a first-game loss to top the Warriors in three.
The eighth grade Lady Vikings won in two lopsided sets, 25-12, 25-7.
Macy Kirchenstein served up 10 aces, while Mallory Durkes finished with seven, and Brayden Baney tallied four.
Brianna Sheetz notched three kills in the win.
Valley’s seventh grade won 22-25, 25-13, 15-4, meanwhile.
Brooke Kamp tallied a prolific 13 aces, followed by Karli Hogue with six, while Shaylin Wilcox finished with a trio of aces, Emily McGriff notched two, and Riley Honeycutt served an ace of her own for the Vikings, who improved to 4-1.
