George L. Malcolm
George L. Malcolm, 88, formerly of Nappanee, died at 5:50 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Ligonier. He was born May 28, 1929 in Nappanee to Earl and Ada (Plank) Malcolm.
Mr. Malcolm was a 1947 graduate of Nappanee High School and lived most of his life in this area. His first marriage was on June 30, 1950 to Shirley A. Schmucker. She preceded in death February 15, 1995.
His second marriage was to Mary Katherine “Kate” Yoder on Sept. 17, 1995. She preceded him in death Dec. 30, 2014. George was a supervisor at NIBCO for 26 ½ years. He also worked in the RV Industry at Holiday Rambler.
Mr. Malcolm was a member of the Nappanee Church of the Brethren and attended Good Shepherd Church of the Brethren in Florida, where he enjoyed spending winters. George enjoyed mushroom hunting and vacationing in Wisconsin. He also enjoyed camping, golf, and playing cards.
Surviving are his children, Brad Malcolm, Nappanee, Carla (Stephen) Harris, Warsaw, Tamara ( David) Harris, Waynesboro, Va.; stepchildren, Jack (Beth) Yoder, Goshen, Robert (Deborah) Mitchel, Nappanee, Keith (Susan) Yoder, Wakarusa; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great-great granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Alice Long, Dorothy Rink, Lucille Musselman; and brothers, Robert, Donald, and John Malcolm.
Family and friends may call from 12-2 Sunday, Sept. 10, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Rev. Byrl Shaver will officiate and burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Nappanee Church of the Brethren, Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare or Heart to Heart Hospice.
