UPDATE — Three-Vehicle Accident At CR 700N, 200E In Leesburg
LEESBURG — At 5:06 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, Leesburg Fire Department, Lutheran EMS and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department emergency personnel responded to a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of CR 700N and CR 200E in Leesburg.
Jeremy Green, Pleasant Acres Drive, Nappanee, was southbound on CR 200E and failed to yield to westbound traffic on CR 700N. Green entered the intersection of CR 200E and CR 700N and was struck by a vehicle driven by Tammy Hutchison, East CR 900N, Syracuse. This caused Hutchison’s vehicle to be pushed into the eastbound lane. A third vehicle, driven by Douglas Wolferman, Fox Run Drive, Syracuse, was eastbound in the eastbound lane. Hutchison’s vehicle collided head-on with Wolferman’s vehicle.
A witness, who was following Hutchison’s vehicle, advised she did not know if Green stopped at the stop sign or not but that he did pull out and hit Hutchison’s vehicle. Green’s maroon Mercury Sable sustained heavy front end damage. Hutchison’s black Toyota RAV4 and Wolferman’s black Chevrolet Silverado also sustained heavy front end damage.
The drivers of all three vehicles were transported by ambulance to hospitals for treatment of injuries. A passenger in Hutchison’s vehicle, Karen Butler, East CR 900N, Syracuse, was also transported by ambulance for medical treatment.
