Elkhart County Nabs Syracuse Woman On Warrant, Faces More Charges
ELKHART COUNTY — Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department arrested Lisa Withers, 36, 8846 E. Crow Road, Syracuse, on a warrant from Kosciusko County, but she now faces charges in that county.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, around 9:36 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, Withers was found to be in possession of a glass pipe with a white residue while incarcerated at the Elkhart County Correctional Facility, 26861 CR 26. She was then booked on charges of possession of paraphernalia and cocaine.
Withers initial warrant was on a charge of failure to appear, a level 6 felony, after she failed to appear for an initial hearing on charges of possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; criminal trespass, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor. That hearing was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Aug. 3, in Kosciusko Circuit Court.
Withers initial charges stemmed from an arrest in July after police responded to an unwanted female at Brooke Point Inn, Syracuse. Withers had previously been issued a criminal trespass warning for that location, but had returned and was using the laundry facilities. After being taken into custody, Withers asked police to get her purse from her vehicle. When an officer went to retrieve the purse, it was searched to ensure there were no weapons. While searching police located a glass smoking device with burnt residue and a bag with a crystal substance. That substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Court documents show she had pending charges for possession of methamphetamine.
