Lakeview Gridders Go 1-1
WARSAW – Jonny Burritt led the way as the Lakeview Middle School 7th grade football team blanked Huntington Crestview 34-0 Monday evening.
Burritt rushed for over 100 yards and tallied three touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions in the victory.
Reilley Wood had 85 yards rushing and a touchdown and Tucker Curtis 22 yards and a two-point conversion.
German Flores had four sacks and several tackles for loss to lead the defense. Brandon Matchem had an interception and Hayden Berry and Omar Ponce each had pass deflections. The trio of Wood, Kyle Schnackenberg and Devlin Duff each had nine tackles.
The Lakeview 8th grade team lost 20-0 to Crestview.
Braxton Byrer led the team in rushing with 70 yards. Kyler Denny was cited for his play on the offensive line.
Both Lakeview teams return to action against Edgewood in the Annual Pink-Out Game on Sept. 6. The action will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Fisher Field at WCHS.
