Albert James ‘Buggs’ Rider Jr. — UPDATED
Albert James “Buggs” Rider Jr., 86, North Webster, passed away at 7:34 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 21, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. He was born on Jan. 21, 1931 in Aledo, Ill. to Albert James and Elma Charlotte (Stump) Rider Sr.
He attended his first six years at Etna Grade School, graduated in 1949 from North Webster High School and was a United States Army veteran. He was married on May 5, 1951 in Etna to Alice E. Kent who survives and was a lifetime Etna Green and North Webster area resident. He retired from Weatherhead Corporation in Columbia City after 15 years and was a Logging Timber Cutter for 30 years at Moores Logging & Tusing Brothers Lumber.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in North Webster, American Legion Post #253 in North Webster, and formerly attended the Salem Community Church in Wilmot. He was an avid gardener.
He is survived by his wife: Alice Rider, North Webster; his daughter: Karen Rider, North Webster; two sons: Brent Rider, Denver; Michael Rider, Valparaiso; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; two sisters: Norma Roose, Winona Lake; Joy (Jim) Liggett, Boston, Ma.; two brothers: Arden (Esther) Rider, Warren; Bob (Melinda) Rider, Augusta, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Neil Rider and George Rider.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd 13 & CR 500N, North Webster. Funeral services will be follow at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Byron Kaiser officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date in Salem Cemetery in Wilmot.
