Wawasee Sports Wrap: Aug. 22
Boys Tennis
Wawasee recovered from a tough first week of the season to beat Central Noble 5-0 Tuesday afternoon in Albion.
The Warriors dropped just six games the entire matchup, with Dylan Staley, Graham Perek and Zach Leedy all winning in a 6-0, 6-1 variety.
The one doubles team of Jake Cowan and Jacob Krugman powered to a 6-1, 6-2 final. Wawasee’s No. 2 doubles team received a forfeit from a lack of Central Noble players.
Wawasee (1-3) will play again Thursday at West Noble.
Volleyball
The Wawasee volleyball program travelled to Albion to take on Central Noble on all three levels.
The varsity match went to Central Noble in a 25-21, 25-15, 25-21 count. Peyton Rookstool had 22 digs, Brooke Heche had 11 assists and both Janae Hapner and Hannah Gaerte had three kills apiece.
In the JV matchup, Wawasee won 25-22, 11-25, 15-11. Ella Williamson had 18 digs, Kiaundra Olson had five aces and Molly Jones recorded six kills.
In the freshman contest, Wawasee came out on top 25-21, 25-17. Cathrine Ondrla had six assists, two digs and an ace, Emma Dippon had four kills, Danielle Jenkins had four digs and Bailey Mayhew contributed two blocks, two aces, a dig and a kill.
Wawasee (1-3 varsity) will host Bethany Christian Thursday evening.
