Dawson Stabs Victim With Knife
WARSAW — Official charges have been filed against a Warsaw woman arrested Sunday, Aug. 20. Jennifer Ann Dawson, 42, 719 W. Market St., has been charged with domestic battery while armed with a deadly weapon, and battery, causing serious bodily injury, both level 5 felonies; and maintaining a common nuisance, a level 6 felony.
She was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail and held on $11,000 surety and cash bond.
Documents filed in Kosciusko Superior Court 1 state police met with a male subject in regards to being stabbed with a knife by Dawson. He told police the incident took place at the West Market Street residence. The victim stated he was assisting Dawson in finding boots when they began to argue. During the argument she threw a black and red knife at him, causing the knife to penetrate the bicep area of his arm. He was able to pull the knife out of his arm.
Dawson was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital where he was treated for the 1.18-inch long stab wound, requiring seven staples.
Police went to the residence, but were unable to get Dawson to come to the door. After obtaining a search warrant and entering the home, Dawson was found sleeping in the bathtub. She told police she was having a meltdown because the victim has had several affairs, however, while talking about the incident she would tell police she didn’t know why she would stab the victim, but then deny any involvement in the incident.
During a search of the home police found a 9 mm cartridge, several items of drug paraphernalia and the knife allegedly used in the stabbing.
The courts have issued a no contact order between Dawson and the victim.
