North Webster Chamber Plans For The Rest Of 2017
NORTH WEBSTER — North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce had three volunteers to be members of the nomination committee for the 2018 officers and board. Volunteering were Brenda Peterson, Lake City Bank; Jim Smith, Loose Moose Motorsports; and Jen Ducey, Tippecanoe Township. They will report back at the September meeting. The monthly meeting was held noon, Monday, Aug. 14, at the Tippecanoe Township Building.
President Sue Ward, Sue’s Creations Floral and Gifts, asked if members wanted to revive the annual Christmas party with a positive response from those attending. Agreeing to serve on the committee with Ward were Scott Kuhn, Tanglibles Resale & Consignment; and Terry Frederick, The Watershed Foundation.
The board voted to replace the phone and answering machine in the chamber office with a new one. The office is located in the Tippecanoe Township Building. It was noted by Ward that only chamber members may place advertisements on the chamber’s website, newsletter and Facebook page. This is an added benefit to joining and participating in the chamber.
Ward announced that the Business of the Month for August 2017 was Clayton’s Garden Center. Longtime chamber members and former winners for Large Business of the Year, the company is always willing to assist with chamber and other community projects. Ed and Judy Clayton are the owners.
Indiana Fairs and Festivals Guide has awarded the chamber’s Dixie Day Festival & Artisan Fair an early bird winner award of a free ad in the 2018 edition. Susan Stump and Martha Stoelting, The Papers, will work on submitting the ad.
The chamber has been very successful in distributing the North Webster Community Guide for 2017-18 but additional ones will not be ordered. Board members volunteered to check with businesses if they had too many.
Stoelting reported that paperwork is being sent from the Kosciusko County Convention, Recreation and Visitors Commission for the chamber to be awarded its $500 out of county advertising grant for Dixie Day Festival.
The Dixie Day Festival committee met after the general meeting for a wrap up of the 2017 event.
The next general meeting of the chamber will be noon, Monday, Sept. 11, Tippecanoe Township Building, 102 S. Morton St.
