Butler Signs Eight Year-Old With Rare Kidney Disease
INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Butler Football announced Tuesday that one of their biggest fans is now a part of the team.
Eigh-year-old Robert Shaffer, who suffers from a rare kidney disease, took part in a ceremonial signing earlier this week.
Shaffer is now invited to any and all practices, games, and other events for Butler’s football team.
Head Coach Jeff Voris and Assistant Coach Joe Cheshire spoke at a press conference Tuesday to announce the signing.
Shaffer also has his own locker in the team’s locker room.
Butler worked with an organization called Team IMPACT, which works to improve the quality of life for children with chronic and life-threatening diseases.
