Boys Tennis
Wawasee had three chances to earn an easy win against Lakeland and couldn’t quite get it.
The Lakers, already forfeiting both of its doubles courts before the match, managed to win all three of the singles courts to cobble together a 3-2 win at home against the Warriors.
Graham Perek and Zack Leedy both lost at two and three singles in straight sets, leaving Dylan Staley to save the day. After a 6-2 win in the first set, Staley dropped set two 6-3 and then 6-4 in the third set to finish the day.
Wawasee (0-2) will open its Northern Lakes Conference schedule Thursday at home against Plymouth.
Girls Soccer
Wawasee notched its first win of the year Wednesday with a 3-1 win over West Noble.
Sara Pritchard and Olivia Birch both had a goal and an assist to lead the Lady Warriors in its home opener. Hannah Lancaster added a goal and Jenny Camarena had an assist for the Lady Warriors.
Wawasee (1-1) will visit Westview Saturday.
