Charlottesville
Dear Editor,
The events that transpired in Charlottesville, Virginia over this past weekend bring to the forefront issues of intolerance and bigotry, hatred and violence, and must be addressed by all of us who follow Christ.
Indiana ranks 7th in the nation in the number of active hate groups. This should give everyone pause. There are only 6 other states that are home to more hate groups than ours. Of all the indicators measured, this is where we excel?
Make no mistake: bigotry and hatred based on the color of someone’s skin, their ethnic heritage, their gender or sexuality, their religion is evil. There is no love or light or redemption in it. None. For we are all formed in God’s image. All of us.
Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church, 424 W. Market St., in Warsaw wants the community to know that we are a loving and open community of believers. Our Baptismal Covenant clearly states that we will ‘strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being”.
Our mission is to share the Light of Christ by giving hope, bringing joy, and loving each other.
Please, join us for Sunday services. And “may God, the Father of all, lead us from prejudice to truth, deliver us from hatred, cruelty and revenge, and enable us all to stand reconciled before you.”
Peace,
Brenda Rigdon
