WARSAW — A week long investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Detectives, Kosciusko County DTF, and the Patrol division ended this morning with a pursuit of a stolen vehicle.
At about 6 a.m., Steve A. Waid Jr. of Syracuse was taken into custody in Warsaw after KCSO Detectives learned that Waid was possibly armed with a firearm and was traveling in the Warsaw area in a stolen 2000 Chevrolet Silverado.
When detectives located Waid and attempted to take him into custody Waid fled through downtown Warsaw. The pursuit ended in the Hodges addition after Waid crashed into a fence and was taken into custody. Waid was transported to KCH for medical clearance and then transported to the Kosciusko County Jail.
Waid was charged with three counts of auto theft, theft, and fleeing/resisting law enforcement. Waid is also being held on warrants from Whitley County and Kosciusko County.
Waid was a suspect in seven vehicle thefts in Kosciusko, Noble and Whitley Counties with all counties participating in the locating and apprehension of Steve A Wade during the week long investigation.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Winona Lake PD, Warsaw PD and Lutheran EMS during the pursuit.
The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office advises that the defendant’s charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
