Warsaw Soccer: Tigers Slay No. 2 Dragons
WARSAW – The Warsaw boys soccer team posted an impressive win Tuesday night.
The Tigers, coming off a 0-0 tie with Carroll on Saturday, blanked Class 1-A No. 2 ranked Argos 6-0.
Cole Voss led the way for the hosts with a pair of goals in the non-conference win.
Warsaw led 2-0 at halftime before scoring four times in the final half to slay the Dragons.
Also scoring for the winners were Eric O’cock, Blake Burns, Joaquin Juarez and Elian Mejia.
Collecting assists in the varsity win for the Tigers were O’cock, Burns, Kyle Hayward, Jorge Rico and Tedros Berelsman. The duo of Colton Wottring and Harrison Mevis combined for the shutout in goal for the winners.
Warsaw won the junior varsity match by a 7-1 final. Zach LaLonde led the way for the JV Tigers with four goals. Daniel Warner tallied two goals and Brennan Cox one for the winners. Ethan Grill led the assist makers with two.
Warsaw (1-0-1) will host Maconaquah Saturday at 10 a.m. in a match that was just added to the schedule. The match was added as the Fort Wayne Luers Invitational, which Warsaw was slated to play in Friday night, has been cancelled.
