LCA Volleyball: Cougars Surprise Wildcats
SOUTH WHITLEY – Lakeland Christian Academy picked up a quality win in the first week of the season, besting Whitko 3-0 in volleyball action in Whitley County.
Lakeland used a 25-21 sprint in game one and a close 25-23 count in game two to build a 25-17 capper over Whitko.
LCA used a plethora of supporting cast to get the job done against Whitko, which was a regional team a season ago in Class 2-A. Kyla Kohler had a big night with six kills, seven assists, two aces and a block. Baylee Wiley, Mackenzie Burns and Morgan Ziebarth combined for 11 digs, four kills, two blocks and an ace, Heather Plastow had 11 digs, Carlie Wise had five digs and a pair of kills, and Cami Dahms added four kills and four digs.
Lakeland rebounded from a tough loss Monday night in its season opener at Jimtown. The Jimmies took the match 25-12, 25-9, 25-12. Stats were not issued from the Jimtown contest.
