This August At The Wagon Wheel
WARSAW — Just two more fantastic productions remain in the 2017 Summer Season at the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts.
Into the Woods runs through Aug. 19. James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching. The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results. Presented by SYM Financial Advisors.
The Encore Show, Next to Normal, opens on Aug. 29 and runs through Sept. 3. Winner of three 2009 Tony Awards and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize, Next to Normal explores how a suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness. Dad’s an architect; Mom rushes to pack lunches and pour cereal; their daughter and son are bright, wise-cracking teens, appearing to be a typical American family. And yet their lives are anything but normal because the mother has been battling manic depression for 16 years. Next to Normal takes audiences into the minds and hearts of each character, presenting their family’s story with love, sympathy and heart.
