Arthur G. Winkle
Arthur G. Winkle, 85 a resident of Bourbon passed away at 2:02 p.m., Aug. 8, 2017, in Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson.
Art was born Dec. 5, 1931 in Goshen to Forrest and Geneva Winkle.
He is survived by his wife Sue (Lemler) Winkle and his daughter April Winkle. His grandchildren Dan (Crystal) Winkle and Brent (Beth) Corbett both of Plymouth; Katie (David) Hunsberger of Duncan, S.C.; and Stasha (Beau) Wade of Warsaw; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother Richard Winkle and three step-sisters Janet Simpson, Sandy Knisely and Sharon Replogle.
Art was preceded in death by his son Joey Winkle and two half brothers Bob Johnston and Carl Johnston, Jr.
Art served on the Bourbon Volunteer Fire Department for 52 years. After many years of driving truck for several asphalt companies he took up woodworking..first oak and then barnsiding. His little red truck was often seen on the hunt for a barn to tear down. Art and his daughter April had a craft business for many years. They traveled to several states participating in craft shows. Art also had a booth at Shipshewanna.
Besides his loving family Art loved playing golf, playing cards, a member of the American Legion #424 of Bourbon, Moose Lodge #741 of Plymouth and a Masonic Lodge member.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Art’s family is especially grateful to the staff at Catherine Kasper Life Center and Heartland Hospice for their tender and compassionate care.
Per Art’s request he will be cremated. A private memorial will be held at at a later date.
The family requests memorials to Art be made to the Catherine Kasper Life Center or to the Cancer Society.
