K9 Klassic 5K Event Held In Winona Lake
WINONA LAKE – The K9 Klassic 5K Fun Run/Walk event took place Saturday, Aug. 12, at Winona Lake Park.
Runners and walkers, many accompanied by canine companions, set out at 10 a.m., going from the Winona Lake picnic shelter through the trails around the lake.
Each participant received a K9 Klassic t-shirt. Canine participants each received a bandana.
Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County brought several dogs to the event that are available for adoption. At least one of those dogs had found a new home even before the 5K event started.
Pets adopted from AWL have had a health check and are current on vaccines. The pet will receive their first vet visit free of charge and the pet will be spayed or neutered. According to Darla McCammon, AWL executive director, this is approximately a $300 value.
AWL is currently featuring reduced rates for pet adoptions through next week. Adoption rates for kittens will be $20 while dogs will be $50 per pet.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County.
