Solid Waste Board Does Housekeeping
WARSAW — With new director Tom Ganser getting a firm grasp on his role at the KC Recycling Depot, the August meeting of the Kosciusko County Solid Waste Board was mostly some housekeeping.
The board approved for Ganser to begin the process of a new computer system to help streamline the process of accepting dropped off items. At current, customers dropping off recyclables have to fill out paper copies of their information for every category of which they are recycling. This information is then re entered by staff when the trucks are loaded with the materials.
Ganser wants to streamline the system for the benefit of both the customers and the staff. For software and hardware costs, the board approved a do-not-exceed of $3,800. Kul Solutions Inc. out of Fort Wayne will be developing a program that meets the Depot’s needs.
Ganser also informed the board of in-house scheduling changes and asked the board to approve some changes in how comp time is utilized. The board saw no issue and approved.
It was noted that the Depot’s roof had been leaking and a repair had been approved last month; two separate contractors advised the roof be replaced within five years.
