UPDATE: County Highway Worker Struck By Vehicle
UPDATE — Matt Oler, 54, Warsaw, suffered leg injuries after being struck by a pickup truck at 11:22 a.m. today. He was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Milford Police report emergency personnel were called to the intersection of SR 15 and Waubee Lake Road regarding a car/pedestrian crash. Waubee Lake Road was closed for road re-surfacing by the Kosciusko County Highway Department. A road closure sign and county highway truck was blocking the westbound lane. William Baxter, 61, North Manchester, started to turn his truck onto Waubee Lake Road, saw the sign and truck, but failed to see the flagman. When Baxter did see Oiler it was too late to avoid the collision.
Baxter’s 2015 Chevrolet Colorado came into contact with Oler, going over his legs.
Lutheran EMS, Milford police and fire departments were at the scene and assisted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police.
Drivers are asked to maintain extra vigilance when entering any construction zones. Always be prepared to stop and treat every construction zone as if workers were present.
