NorthWood Golf: Panthers Third In NP Invite
LAPORTE – The NorthWood girls golf team continued its invitational play Tuesday with a third-place finish in the New Prairie Invitational.
Coach Adam Yoder’s team shot a 356 to finish behind runner-up Crown Point (355) and champion and No. 15-ranked Valparaiso (321) in the 18-team event held at the Legacy Hills Golf Club.
Mackenzie Weaver led the way for the No. 18 Panthers with a round of 83.
Abby Slabaugh shot an 86 and Madison Richner a 92 for NorthWood. Makenna Gall came in with a 95 and Kylee Gall a 97.
Chesterton junior Elyse Stasil fired a 71 to earn individual medalist honors on the day. Stasil was runner-up at the State Finals as an individual in 2016 and helped Chesterton to a third-place finish as a team in 2015.
Bremen shot 368 to claim fourth place in the final team standings. LaPorte was fifth with a 388, followed by Penn (398), Elkhart Central (401), Glenn (423), Michigan City (427), New Prairie (437), Elkhart Memorial (442), Marquette (454), Chesterton (460), South Bend Adams (465), South Central (471), South Bend Clay (567), South Bend Riley (574) and Mishawaka (629).
NorthWood will host Fairfield Tuesday.
