Jack James Racolta
Jack James Racolta, 81, of Bourbon passed away, Aug. 4, 2017 in Morning View Nursing Home of South Bend.
Jack was born the son of Joseph and Mary Racolta at Detroit, Michigan on Dec. 29, 1935. He was a resident of Bourbon since Dec. of 1973. Jack retired in 1997 from Fairmont Homes of Nappanee as a Vice President.
Jack enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan. IU basketball, Notre Dame football and Chicago Cubs, to name a few. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion Post 424 and the Plymouth Moose Lodge #741. His favorite pastime was sharing stories about his children and grandchildren. He was a social butterfly and could really “cut a rug.”
Rosalee E. (Weissert) became the bride of Jack June 28, 1975, she preceded in death July 4, 2007. He is also survived by his children: Robin Racolta and Ted Carpenter of Bourbon; Jackie and Lane Miner of Bourbon; Jan and Monti Apple of Noblesville; Joe and Angie Racolta of Syracuse, IN. Step children: Debbie and Steve Calhoun of Plymouth and David and Mary Swihart of Goshen. Jack was also blessed with five grandchildren: Jeremy and Heather Weissert; Jenna and Trent Campbell; Brittney Frenger; Kirsten and Drew Monteith; Trane and Kaylee Fox, Step grandchildren: Brandon Calhoun; Allison Calhoun; Rob Swihart; Liz Stack-Hall, seven great-grandchildren: William and Austin Weissert; Hank Campbell; Braxton, Colt and Keegan Monteith and Ryder Fox. A sister: Flo and Tony Crachiola of Hazel Park, MI and a brother: George and Shirley Racolta of Union City, MI.
Preceding in death were his parents, a son Michael and a sister Theresa Racolta.
The family will welcome friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8 in the Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St. Bourbon. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
The family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Triton High School Band, Blessing in a Backpack or The Country Church food Pantry.
